LEICA & BOMCA Organized seminars in Turkmenistan and Tajikistan on profiling of potential traffickers of human beings and migrant smugglers

European Union funded Law Enforcement in Central Asia Project (LEICA) collaborated with BOMCA 10, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia, implemented seminars in Turkmenistan and Tajikistan focused on the profiling of potential traffickers of human beings and  migrant smugglers and contrabands also in connection to terrorism.
Taking place from February 29 to March 1 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, and from March 4 to March 5 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, these national seminars played a crucial role in enhancing the capabilities of first-line officers in Central Asian countries. Experts from the State Border Guard Service of Lithuania and LEICA shared valuable insights into relevant risk indicators, presenting risk profiles and analytical products associated with the identification and detection of potential traffickers of human beings. The seminars went beyond theoretical aspects, with participants gaining practical knowledge of EU practices related to the utilization of information-analytical tools in the profiling process.
The content and findings from these seminars will be reflected in a comprehensive booklet containing basic risk profiles and indicators. This resource is designed for use by law enforcement officers, providing them with essential information for creating thorough risk analysis profiles and conducting effective border checks. The initiative aims to empower frontline officers with the skills and knowledge needed to address the challenges posed by human trafficking and migrant smuggling in the Central Asian region. By fostering a more effective and coordinated response, these efforts contribute significantly to mitigating the impact of these issues. The commitment to ongoing collaboration and knowledge-sharing underscores the EU's dedication to promoting security and stability in the region.
The Project LEICA (Law Enforcement in Central Asia) is managed by the European Commission, through a consortium made up of French CIVIPOL, and Slovak ISEMI. The project is supported by INTERPOL.
