LEICA Organized Regional Workshop on Early Detection of Radicalization

The European Union funded project LEICA has organized a three-day workshop in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) to facilitate an exchange of experiences between EUMS (EU Member States) and Central Asia officials and civil society experts in the early detection and prevention of radicalization.
In the meeting participated 48 experts and officials from the five Central Asia countries, and five experts from EUMS (Czech Republic, France, Spain), the European Police School (CEPOL) and the United Kingdom.
Discussions focused on indicators of radicalization, and tools, mechanisms and practical solutions adopted for cooperation and sharing information between the various actors engaged at the national level in prevention of terrorism and violent extremism, mainly police and prison officials, and civil society.
LEICA Director, in his closing remarks, said that this workshop contributed to consolidate the cooperation at regional level in the fight against radicalization. Moreover, LEICA will continue supporting cooperation between Central Asia and EUMS in the field of early detection and fight against radicalization taking into account relevant information and lessons learned during this workshop.
The European Union funded project LEICA is managed by the EU Commission, through a consortium made up by French CIVIPOL and Slovak ISEMI, with the support of Interpol.
