Radicalization Detection Training for the Front-line Police Officers in Talas Region

Approximately 150 officers from the Talas police department and its subdivisions took part in a workshop on "Role of law enforcement agencies in preventing extremism and terrorism among population" which took place in Talas from February 27th to March 3rd 2023 with the support of European Union funded project LEICA (Law Enforcement Agencies in Central Asia) and in cooperation with the Department of Interior Affairs of the Ministry of Interior for prevention of extremism and illegal migration in line with implementation of the Concept of state policy in religious sphere in Kyrgyzstan.
Experts from the Kyrgyz Ministry of Interior and police officers from Spain and Estonia shared their experience in preventing radicalisation, combating extremism and terrorism, and identifying external signs and behaviour to detect potential terrorists/extremists both in the country and in the EU.
Police Colonel Azamat Sheishenbekovich Toktonaliev, the head of the Talas Regional Police Headquarter, visited the seminar and gave a warm welcome to the participants, national and international experts and wished everyone a successful use of the knowledge gained at the training in their day-to-day work.
During the seminar, experts answered numerous questions from the participants and ended the training with distribution of more than 1,500 copies of methodological handbooks, booklets and leaflets on the prevention of religious extremism, prepared by the Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on Combating Extremism and Illegal Migration and printed with the financial support of the LEICA project.
