Regional Training on Digital Profiling and Study Visits Organized by LEICA in Slovakia and Czech Republic

The number of crimes committed through digital means is regularly increasing, making it more challenging to identify the perpetrators. Law enforcement agencies use the analysis of digital behavioral patterns to assist in investigations to identify individuals committing crimes based on digital traces left by the criminals.
LEICA organized a three-day regional training on digital profiling and digital investigation. Eight law enforcement officers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan participated in this activity, which was organizationally supported by ISEMI.
The training consisted of theoretical sessions and practical exercises, during which the participants identified suspicious social media accounts and analyzed text messages sent through various applications (Facebook, WhatsApp, Viber, Telegram, etc.). Ultimately, they created digital profiles of suspects in the cases they had to solve.
CBRN digital crime was also an integral part of the training.
In addition to the training, meetings were held with Slovak and Czech police cyber investigation units, who gave presentations on work organization, process management and investigation methodology including the seizure of digital evidence in the Slovak and Czech Republics.
The European Union funded project LEICA is managed by the EU Commission, through a consortium made up by French CIVIPOL and Slovak ISEMI, with the support of Interpol.
