Training in the field of cynology on the search for explosives, arms and ammunition

8 Officials of the Kyrgyz State Committee on National Security (5 participants from 9th Service, 3 participants including trainer from Border Service) and 1 representative of State Customs Service have participated in a two-week training course for Dog handlers / instructors for searching explosives, ammunition, and weapons. The training was organized in State Customs Service's Training Centre in Leninskoe village with the support of the EU-funded projects BOMCA and LEICA.

The training included, inter alia, dog motivation and socialization techniques, search and work style, methods of passive labelling of specific found material; recognizing odours; inspect buildings, trains, aircrafts, vehicles, and luggage; types of explosives, ammunition and weapons, methods of concealing them, and rules of safe conduct and transport.

The trained dog handlers - instructors now will be able to use the acquired knowledge and practical skills in their daily service to provide security to the society, with an improved efficiency in the searching for explosives, ammunition, and weapons.

The EU-funded project LEICA is managed by the European Commission through a consortium made up of French CIVIPOL and Slovak ISEMI, with the support of Interpol.
