Training on Deradicalization Techniques in Prisons

From 25 to 29 September 2023, the EU-funded project LEICA (Law Enforcement in Central Asia), in close cooperation with the Prisons Correction Service, Ministry of Interior and Civil Society representatives, organized a training seminar for 137 correction officers at prisons in Talas, Toktogul, Jalal-Abad, and Osh on deradicalization techniques. Personnel are the most important element of any prison system. Prison administration is aware of this and pays significant attention to the selection and training of employees. This training provided the participants with the concepts, tools, and skills to manage extremist prisoners and prevent radicalization in prisons. The participation of the Civil society expert ensured respect of prisoners Human Rights and dignity.
