On July 27, 2022, in Nur Sultan, the European Union funded project Law Enforcement in Central Asia (LEICA) has launched a five-day special training course titled “Operational Analysis to Prevent Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing”, which was specifically devised for law enforcement agencies in Kazakhstan. 14 employees of National Security Committee, General Prosecutor’s Office, Ministry of Interior and Finance Monitoring Agency of Kazakhstan took part in the training. The course is part of the LEICA program to combat terrorist financing in Central Asia.

Three international experts and a representative of the Euro-Asian Group (EAG) have prepared uniquely tailored sessions for 14 Kazakhstan law enforcement officers. At the opening ceremony LEICA Director appreciated the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the facilitation and support of LEICA’s activities in the country and underlined that the project’s objective directly targets the menace of terrorism and consequences of the radical extremism in the region. In order to achieve this goal, LEICA managed to summon the best experts capable to provide modern and relevant training modules based on requests of the receiving side discussed during the LEICA’s inception phase. This seminar demonstrates a very important benchmark in promotion of national cooperation and encouraging information exchange between the participants. Also, the director of LEICA wished the participants to immediately engage in active discussions immediately from the first day of the training and not hesitate to ask questions to the experts.

The EU Delegation representative expressed his sincere appreciation for the great government’s support provided to the EU activities in Kazakhstan, and to the LEICA project in particular. He further stressed that EU strives to maintain the important projects which may have a significant impact on promoting security and stability of the country and the region in general.
